After visiting Florida State this weekend, IU football 4-star verbal commit Jay Timmons is saying he’s considering the Seminoles.
“Indiana and Florida State are really the big two right now,” Timmons told the Florida State 247Sports site.
“I want to make a decision in the summer.”
Timmons verbally committed to IU in April right after an official visit in Bloomington.
Timmons is the son of former Pittsburgh Steeler first round draft choice and Super Bowl champ Lawrence Timmons, who played linebacker at Florida State. His mother attended the school as well.
The 5-foot-11 Timmons is one of the highest-rated players in IU’s 2026 class. He is the No. 342 overall player in the 2026 class and the No. 32 cornerback according to the industry average.
Prior to this weekend’s visit to Tallahassee, Timmons had only visited Indiana. He chose the Hoosiers over offers from Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Iowa, Maryland, Iowa State and others. He has risen up the ranks and received most of those offers in the last year as his profile has soared.
The opportunity to play where his parents attended school might be too much to pass up for Timmons. On3 national recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong is now predicting Timmons will flip his commitment to Florida State.
We should know his decision soon.
Indiana only has one other cornerback in their 2026 class, 4-star Kasmir Hicks from Indianapolis. Jeremiah Favorite, a 3-star out of South Carolina, visited recently.
