Under Darian DeVries, IU basketball to follow a new format for senior night

Under first-year head coach Darian DeVries, Indiana basketball is going with a new approach for Senior Night.

For decades the program has recognized its final-year players on the Branch McCracken Court moments after their final home game.

But for Wednesday’s game against Minnesota, IU will honor its seniors around 15 to 20 minutes before the 6:30 p.m. ET tip-off at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Senior Night has taken on a new meaning in the transfer portal era, as often the players in their final year of eligibility haven’t been on campus long.  That’s especially true for IU, as all six seniors only played one season in Bloomington.

But they are all main rotation players for DeVries.

The seniors on this 2025-26 IU basketball roster who will be recognized before the game Wednesday evening are:

    • Reed Bailey
    • Lamar Wilkerson
    • Sam Alexis
    • Conor Enright
    • Tayton Conerway
    • Tucker DeVries

“Incredibly grateful for this group,” DeVries said on his radio show Monday evening.  “When you’re committing to something that’s basically invisible, it says a lot about their belief in our coaches, this school and this program, and wanting to be a part of it.  For myself and our staff to have these seniors want to spend their last season with us, we’re really grateful for that opportunity.  They’ve been a really fun group to be around and coach.  They’ve really tried to give us everything they’ve had.

“I’m looking forward to them being honored on Wednesday night, and hopefully our fans will be grateful for them being here and all their efforts this year.”

DeVries says he doesn’t expect any of these six players to pursue any special waivers to extend their college eligibility.  There was some question in the case of Tayton Conerway whether his junior college seasons might not count against his eligibility and he might pursue another season at the Division I level.  But that doesn’t appear to be anything IU is aware of or pursuing at this time.

“Unless there’s some new rule with the NCAA, I don’t anticipate any of them being able to continue on after this,” DeVries said.
