After returning to action against the Patriots and leading the Jets with 6 receptions, 103 receiving yards and a TD, Omar Cooper Jr. was named the Pepsi Rookie of the Week. Cooper flashed in his first game back after sustaining an ankle injury in Week 1 that put him on the reserved/injured list.
Cooper averaged 17.2 yards per reception, becoming the fifth Jets rookie to average 15-plus yards per catch in a single game in the last 10 seasons, according to Stats Perform.
Meanwhile, former IU linebacker Aiden Fisher was released by the Houston Texans and signed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad. He joins former IU teammate Kahlil Benson in Kansas City. After being drafted by Houston in the seventh round, Fisher played in three games for the Texans and posted one tackle.
From 2024-25 at Indiana, Fisher totaled 215 tackles, including 16 for a loss and six sacks. Fisher’s production led to him being named a two-time first-team All-American and two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection.
In same news cycle the Chiefs waived former IU linebacker Cam Jones.
