There is a ceremony Friday at 11 a.m. ET in connection with the naming of part of State Road 45/46 as Bob Knight Memorial Way, WFIU is reporting.
Earlier this year, the Indiana state legislature unanimously passed a resolution calling for the Indiana Department of Transportation to name the stretch of State Road 45/46 between College Ave. and Fee Lane after the legendary IU basketball coach. This span is just north of Assembly Hall and Memorial Stadium at the north end of the IU campus.
The relevant stretch of road is highlighted in the image below, via Google Maps.

Speakers at the ceremony will include Bob Knight’s son and former IU player Patrick Knight, IU AD Scott Dolson; Peggy Mayfield, the Indiana state representative who authored the resolution; and Steve Ferguson, chair of Board of Cook Group Inc.
A sign will be unveiled at the ceremony.
Knight won three national titles at Indiana, an Olympic gold medal, and retired as the game’s all-time winningest coach.
In total, Knight led IU to 11 Big Ten Conference titles, five Final Fours, and a 32-0 undefeated season in 1976. That 1975-76 campaign remains the last undefeated season in men’s college basketball. Indiana made the NCAA Tournament in 24 of Knight’s 29 years at the helm.
During his time in Bloomington, Knight coached 12 Big Ten MVPs, saw 29 players go to the NBA, and 98 percent of his 4-year players graduated.
He passed away in 2023.
