Remembering when: Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson had harsh words for Bloomington residents

Michigan center Hunter Dickinson was in Bloomington during the offseason — and he didn’t walk away impressed with what he saw.

Or more specifically, who he saw.

“It’s not the best clientele. I have to say that. There’s a lot of normal people in Ann Arbor. There’s a lot of weirdos in Bloomington,” Dickinson said on the RoundBall podcast in November.

Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis was also on the podcast, and he knew IU fans would take exception to Dickinson’s comments.

“They are going to love hearing that,” Jackson-Davis said of Indiana fans.

On Sunday Dickinson makes his return to Bloomington, and he’ll no doubt be on the minds of the IU fans in attendance.

Not only for the comments, but also because a year ago in Bloomington Dickinson led all scorers with 25 points and nine rebounds as part of an 80-62 Wolverines romp.  And he didn’t hesitate to celebrate his success.

Michigan handled Indiana at Assembly Hall today with an 80-62 win.

This wasn’t the only time Dickinson had harsh words for an opponent.

A couple months later on that same podcast, Dickinson’s target was Wisconsin.

“Wisconsin, they’re just… they’re scumbags. That’s what it is. That’s what it is. I’m sorry. They’re just scumbags,” Dickinson said.

He proceeded to wear a ski mask into the Kohl Center in Madison a month later.  Dickinson said he wore it to “steal a win.”

So far Dickinson doesn’t have a good track record of backing up his trash talk.

Michigan lost 64-59 to the Badgers.

Indiana and the Wolverines tip at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall (CBS).
