For the fourth time in the last five years, Kyle Schwarber has reached 40 home runs in a season.
The former IU baseball and current Philadelphia Phillies star hit a three-run shot in Seattle Wednesday for his MLB-leading 40th of the season. It was also the 380th of his big league career. He’s batting .243 with 81 RBIs this year as the Phillies pursue another spot in the postseason.
Schwarber’s four 40-homer seasons are tied with former Phillies star Ryan Howard for the most in franchise history, and also tied for the most among all active players, joining Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge.

The 33-year-old Schwarber has been on a tear since joining the Phillies.
His 227 homers with Philadelphia are the second-most ever in a player’s first five seasons with a club. He trails only Babe Ruth, who had 235 homers with the New York Yankees.
While he likely won’t reach his career-best 56 home runs set last year, Schwarber can still reach 50 for the second-season in a row. He is currently on pace for 48 for the 2026 campaign.
That would put Schwarber at 388 career home runs, very close to the 400-mark that catapults many players into the Hall of Fame. He also has a World Series title, several playoff appearances, four All-Star appearances and an All-Star MVP to his credit to eventually bolster his case for enshrinement.
