BLOOMINGTON — Urban Meyer gave Indiana football high praise on FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” on Saturday morning, and the IU coaching staff spent the ensuing afternoon backing it up. The three-time national championship-winning coach proclaimed the Hoosiers one of the best-coached teams he’s seen in his career, in front of a crowd full of crazed Indiana fans. That’s a big statement from someone who’s seen as much football over the last 25 years as Meyer has. “This is one of the best coached teams I’ve seen in my career.” @CoachUrbanMeyer has HIGH praise for Curt Cignetti’s @IndianaFootball 👏 pic.twitter.com/HmfWblfkxg —…

IU football faces an intriguing challenge in week nine. No. 2 Indiana (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) takes on UCLA (3-4, 3-1) on Saturday at Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium. The game kicks off at noon ET and will air on FOX. With a win, the Hoosiers would secure back-to-back eight-win seasons for the first time since 1987-88. This would be their 14th consecutive home win, one of the longest streaks in the country. UCLA entered the season projected to finish among the worst teams in the Big Ten. But the Bruins have turned their season around in recent weeks…

Indiana’s game against UCLA looks a lot different than it did a month ago. The Bruins looked listless as they limped to an 0-3 start, before firing head coach DeShaun Foster and promoting Tim Skipper to interim head coach. UCLA lost its next game after the change, at Northwestern, and then Skipper replaced offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri and promoted Jerry Neuheisel from tight ends coach and assistant head coach to the vacant position. Since then, UCLA’s fortunes have turned. Skipper orchestrated a stunning upset of Penn State, followed by wins over Michigan State and Maryland. “We’re playing a 3-0 football…

BLOOMINGTON — As Indiana football cruised towards a seventh straight victory to open the 2025 season, the Memorial Stadium crowd made a statement. No. 3 IU’s 38-13 victory over Michigan State on Saturday came in wet second-half conditions, after a lightning delay extended halftime longer than usual. Many fans didn’t return to the seating bowl after evacuating to their cars, but the still-large group that stayed became particularly invested, given the circumstances. The student section harkened back to another era of Indiana football, with a cluster in section 19 taking off their shirts, waving them around, and making a lot of…

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana men’s basketball handled business smoothly in its first exhibition game of the 2025-26 season. The Hoosiers cruised past Marian for a 107-46 victory on Friday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. This was Darian DeVries’ first time taking the court in Bloomington as head coach, and his team showed a lot of potential. As always, an exhibition game should be digested with a grain of salt — IU has obvious advantages over Marian that will always make statistics and scores look lopsided. That said, here are three main takeaways from Indiana’s exhibition win. Ball movement looking good…

Indiana linebacker Isaiah Jones has stepped into a major role for the Hoosiers this season. He leads the Big Ten with 10 tackles for loss halfway through the season. Jones entered the season projected to see plenty of action this season, but as the team’s No. 3 linebacker behind Aiden Fisher and Rolijah Hardy. But his strong play has led defensive coordinator Bryant Haines to utilize three-linebacker formations more frequently. Teammates aren’t surprised by Jones’ emergence. They’ve seen his work ethic for a long time and knew he was capable of big things. IU running back Roman Hemby said Jones…

This is how a football school acts. After Indiana football earned one of its biggest-ever wins at Oregon last week, the Hoosiers have lived in the spotlight. The attention hasn’t been all flowers and praise, though. After Penn State fired head coach James Franklin on Sunday, IU head coach Curt Cignetti became a popular name among rumors and reports of potential candidates to take over in Happy Valley. It took IU athletic director Scott Dolson only four days — the same amount of time from Tom Allen’s firing to Cignetti’s hire in Nov. 2023 — to sign Cignetti to a…
