LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Indiana lost to Arizona on Saturday evening at the MGM Grand Garden Arena by a final score of 89-75. Arizona led 46-36 at halftime.  The Hoosiers were led in scoring by Race Thompson with 16 points.  Miller Kopp added 14. Indiana (8-2, 1-1) travels to Kansas next Saturday. LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Indiana starting freshman guard Jalen Hood-Schifino will not play when No. 14 Indiana faces No. 10 Arizona on Saturday. Hood-Schifino was on the floor with his teammates but not in uniform when the Hoosiers took the floor 60 minutes before tip-off at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Battling back soreness, Hood-Schifino has now missed three straight games after producing his best effort of the season against North Carolina on Nov. 30.  The injury is not expected to be serious or long-term, but it is clearly now lingering for the talented first year point guard. It’s been another busy week of roster activity for the IU football program. In total, four players have hit the transfer portal since our last broad-based update. Here are the latest departures from the team. Randy Holtz – OL:  After missing the entire 2022 season with an injury, the Fort Wayne product is in the portal.  Holtz appeared in 11 games at offensive guard and on special teams in 2021, and he redshirted his freshman 2020 season after he appeared in three games at guard.  Holtz was named All-State two times while with Snider H.S. Indiana earned its first Big Ten win of the 2022-23 season with an 81-65 triumph over Nebraska that seemed to address many of their shortcomings stemming from a conference opening loss at Rutgers. The Hoosiers started fast in this one and never trailed.  They built a 14-2 lead to open the game, and Nebraska never got back within seven.  IU extended the lead out to as much as 22 late in the second half. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana defeated Nebraska by a final score of 81-65 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Wednesday evening. The Hoosiers led 39-26 at halftime and were led in the game by Trey Galloway with a career high 20 points.  Tamar Bates added 19 off the bench, and Trayce Jackson-Davis had a triple-double with 12 points, and team highs with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis recorded the third triple-double in IU basketball history on Wednesday night against Nebraska in an 81-65 Indiana win. The senior forward poured in 12 points, and added 11 rebounds and 10 assists to hit the marks.  He already had 9 points and 8 rebounds at halftime, but had to make up ground in the assist column with just four at the break.
