Our transfer portal names to know series involves players with rumored interest or interesting connections with IU basketball.

Jalen Haralson is a player who needs no introduction to most IU basketball fans.

The Hoosiers were involved in Haralson’s recruitment as a high school prospect before he played his first game as a freshman, and IU ended up as one of three finalists before he chose Notre Dame.

After one season with the Irish, Haralson is back on the market. And in his lone season in South Bend, Haralson lived up to the hype.

In 23 starts and 27 games played, Haralson averaged 16.2 points, which ranked 4th all-time for a freshman at Notre Dame.  He ranked top-5 in ACC Rookie scoring during league play.

The 6-foot-7 Haralson’s 17.4 ppg in ACC play ranked 9th overall in the conference. He shot 53.6% from the field, which ranked 5th in the league.  He was one of just six freshmen in a power conference to average at least 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Haralson led the Irish in scoring 10 times. He produced double-digit points in all but three games this season.

The former Fishers H.S. and La Lumiere product finished with eight 20-point efforts on the season.  He led the team in assists, averaging 2.7 per game, and led the team in free throw attempts (6.7) and makes (4.5) per game.

Haralson was the highest-rated prospect to commit to the Irish in the modern history of the program. He was a consensus five-star recruit and the top-ranked prospect in the state of Indiana.

The transfer portal formally opens on April 7.  For more portal names to know, follow our follow our complete coverage of IU basketball recruiting HERE.
