IU football has tied another historic milestone during the 2026 NFL Draft.
Indiana now has seven players whose names have been called in Pittsburgh, tying a program record for most players taken in one draft. Center Pat Coogan joined the party during the sixth round, going to the Tennessee Titans at No. 194 overall.
Coogan earned Rose Bowl MVP honors in January after Indiana’s 38-3 rout over Alabama, on its way to winning the national championship. The center didn’t allow a sack all season, and he played 100 percent of IU’s snaps throughout all 16 games. Coogan transferred to IU after the 2024 season from Notre Dame, where he started 26 games in 2023 and 2024.
The Titans signed veteran center Austin Schlottman as a free agent in March, and he’ll likely start. Coogan should back him up, and with Schlottman on a two-year deal, the Chicago native could have a chance to earn a job down the road.
Coogan is the first Indiana center selected in the NFL Draft since Bob Van Pelt in 1967. He’s the first Hoosier offensive lineman to go this year, and the first since Simon Stepaniak in 2020.
