Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt’s hearing on a motion for a preliminary injunction has been rescheduled to Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. ET according to public Indiana court records.
It was originally scheduled for Friday.
The delay keeps their temporary restraining order in effect, and the IU football defensive ends eligible for this weekend’s game against Howard.
Daley and Wyatt were both members of the high school class of 2022 who played their fourth season of eligibility during the 2025-26 academic year. They were two of multiple athletes who received a temporary restraining order from an Indiana judge against the NCAA last week ahead of the season opener.
On June 22 and 23, 2026, the NCAA’s governance structure voted to grant all current NCAA Division athletes five years to compete in NCAA sports following their high school graduation date (the “Five-for-Five Rule”).
Athletes from the high school graduating class of 2022 sued the NCAA in Ohio the next day because the NCAA led them to believe that the Five-for-Five Rule provided such benefit to the Classes of 2023, 2024, and 2025, while including language intentionally excluding them from application of the Five-for-Five Rule.
Daley, Wyatt and their fellow plaintiffs have since learned that no such exclusionary language exists and they are eligible to compete in 2026-27 under the express terms of the 2026-27 NCAA Division Manual.
The temporary restraining order provides that Daley and Wyatt will suffer immediate and irreparable harm if not allowed to play a fifth season.
After suffering season-ending knee injuries in 2025, both players were in uniform last Saturday when Indiana took on North Texas.
Daley played 13 snaps in the opener and had one tackle and one pressure on the quarterback. Wyatt did not play.
Owen McDonald, Zalan Sarkany, Jordan Johnson, Avry Tatum, Malik Reneau, and Yohan Traore are also plaintiffs in the matter against the NCAA.
