COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Indiana beat Maryland by a final score of 55-10 on Saturday afternoon at SECU Stadium.

Below are three quick reasons why the Hoosiers won, along with highlights and final stats.  For Curt Cignetti postgame, GO HERE.

Indiana (9-0) is back on the road next weekend.  They travel to Penn State next Saturday.  The kickoff time at Beaver Stadium will be announced this weekend.

Stay tuned for more coverage of the game from The Daily Hoosier.

    THREE QUICK REASONS INDIANA WON

    1. An early response to adversity.  Indiana’s offense looked awful on their first two drives.  They went three-and-out each time, with the six plays leading to -11 yards. Fernando Mendoza threw an interception on his second pass that led to a Maryland field goal.  Adjustments were needed as the Terps’ defense was setting the tone with penetration up front and aggressive coverage on the IU receivers.  The response?  Indiana scored on their next eight drives — 6 touchdowns and 2 field goals.

    2. Total ground control.  On both sides of the ball Indiana completely dominated the running game.  The Hoosiers rushed 52 times for 367 yards on offense, and held Maryland to 37 yards on 17 carries.  Indiana didn’t have any sacks, so there was no adjustment to those Maryland rushing stats.  Kaelon Black led the way for IU with 14 carries for 110 yards, while Roman Hemby added 88 yards on 18 totes.

    3. Hoosier takeaways.  Although they were missing All-American linebacker Aiden Fisher, the defense made several splash plays to separate from the Terps.  In total Indiana forced five Maryland turnovers. Kaiden Turner and Louis Moore both made good plays on the ball for second quarter interceptions.  And safeties Devan Boykin and Byron Baldwin each recovered their own forced fumbles for third quarter takeaways.  Jah Jah Boyd forced a very late fourth quarter fumble the Hoosiers recovered as well.
