    IU Football recruiting: Class of 2021 early signing day live tracker

    Follow along below for updates as Indiana’s class of 2021 makes it official on the annual December early signing day.

    UPDATE – As of 11:39 a.m., all commits have signed.

    As of the end of the day the IU class is ranked No. 61 nationally and No. 12 in the Big Ten.  Based on average player rating, IU’s relatively small class is No. 37 nationally and No. 9 in the Big Ten.

    Rankings are according to the 247Sports Composite.

    OFFICIALLY SIGNED

    James Evans, Auckland, New Zealand, P

    Evans is a 6-foot-1, 210 pound punter from New Zealand.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 9 ranked punter in the class.

    Maurice Freeman, Norfolk, Virginia, S (3-star)

    Freeman is a 6-foot, 195 pound defensive back from Norfolk, Virginia.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 71 ranked safety.  Fitting the mold of the fast, physical defensive backs that Indiana is becoming known for, Freeman could play safety or husky.

    Highlights

    Aaron Steinfeldt, Bloomington, Indiana, TE (3-star)

    Steinfeldt is a 6-foot-5, 235 pound tight end from Bloomington, Ind.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 38 tight end.  He is a tall, athletic tight end that should become a weapon in the passing game.

    Highlights

    Trenten Howland, Joliet, Illinois, RB (3-star)

    Howland is a 6-foot-2, 220 pound running back from Joliet, Illinois.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 55 ranked running back.  Big, strong, and fast, Howland has it all arriving at IU in the mold of Tevin Coleman.

    Highlights

    Vinny Fiacable, Fort Wayne, Indiana, OL (3-star)

    Fiacable is a 6-foot-4, 300 pound offensive lineman from Fort Wayne.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 48 guard.  Fiacable comes from a long line of Hoosiers, and he is quickly emerging as a promising interior lineman.  He will enroll early for IU.

    Highlights

    Jaquez Smith, Atlanta, Georgia, WR (4-star)

    Smith is a 6-foot-1, 195 pound wide receiver from Fairburn, Georgia.  He is a 4-star recruit and the No. 40 wideout.  Smith is the highest rated player in the class for IU, and with Fryfogle and Philyor potentially leaving, he could step in and see the field early in his career.

    Highlights

    Larry Smith, Jacksonville, Florida, DB (3-star)

    Smith is a 5-foot-10, 175 pound defensive back from Florida.  He is a 3-star recruit, and the No. 39 safety.  Smith will actually come to IU to play cornerback.  He is the lone corner in the class.  Smith combines speed and physicality and will have the opportunity to learn behind IU’s current highly talented group.

    Highlights

    Cooper Jones, Valparaiso, Indiana, DE (3-star)

    Jones is a 6-foot-5, 260 pound defensive end from Valparaiso, Ind.  He is a higher-end 3-star recruit and the No. 30 strong side defensive end.  Jones is long, athletic, and likely to make an early impact.   He had offers from Ohio State, Michigan and Iowa.

    Highlights

    David Holloman, Auburn Hills, Michigan, RB (3-star)

    Holloman is a 6-foot, 200 pound running back from Auburn Hills, Michigan.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 73 running back.  Holloman is Indiana’s speed threat in the 2021 class.  He has put up elite 40 times and is a nice complement to Howland.

    Highlights

    Joshua Sales, Brownsburg, Indiana, OT (3-star)

    Sales is a 6-foot-6, 305 pound offensive lineman from Brownsburg, Ind.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 59 tackle.  Sales is IU’s lone OT commit in the class, and he is enrolling early.  He was a highly coveted recruit for IU that is likely to play as an underclassman.

    Highlights

    Donaven McCulley, Indianapolis, Indiana, QB (4-star)

    McCulley is a 6-foot-5, 200 pound quarterback from Indianapolis.  He is a 4-star recruit and the No. 9 dual-threat QB.  Able to impact games with both a big, accurate arm and his feet, McCulley projects to be ready to make impact early in his career.

    Highlights

    Jordyn Williams, Albany, Georgia, WR (3-star)

    Williams is a 6-foot-1, 185 pound wide receiver from Georgia.  He is a 3-star recruit and the No. 650 wide receiver.  Williams will be an early enrollee.  Averaging 27 yards per catch, Williams has big play ability and is likely to compete for early playing time.

    Highlights

    Jordan Grier, Ellenwood, Georgia, S (3-star)

    Grier is a 6-foot, 193 pound defensive back from Georgia.  He is expected to play safety and is ranked as the No. 85 athlete in the class.  Grier is a tough, physical DB with a nose for the ball.  He will play free safety at IU.

    Highlights

    D.J. Matthews, Florida State graduate transfer WR

    Matthews is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound wide receiver from Jacksonville, Florida.  He had 36 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns in 2019. He started six games in 2018 and made 42 receptions for 382 yards and one touchdown.
