IU Football Recruiting: Class of 2021 Defensive Back Larry Smith Commits to Indiana

It didn’t take long for Jacksonville, Fla. defensive back Larry Smith to pick Indiana.

Just a few weeks after the Hoosiers offered a scholarship, Smith has verbally committed to play for IU.

The 5-foot-11, 170 pound Smith announced his decision on his Twitter page on Friday.

Ranked No. 529 nationally according to the 247Sports Composite and the No. 34 safety, Smith is a higher tier three-star recruit.  According to Rivals Smith is a four-star recruit

Smith led his Lee High School team with five interceptions and added 52 tackles on the season.  He made the Class 6A first team all-state.

While he plays safety in high school, Smith could be a cornerback at Indiana.

Smith’s list of offers included Duke, North Carolina and Ole Miss.  Purdue was also involved.

Smith is the fifth member of Indiana’s 2021 class and the first from out of state.  For a complete list of Indiana’s 2021 commitments, go here.
