Indiana has made its first offer in the class of 2029.
Rising sophomore Mason Grivna was offered by the IU staff during the live recruiting period. According to Next Up Recruits on X, IU had coaches in attendance for all his games this weekend at an Adidas national recruiting event.
IU has been involved with Grivna since before his high school freshman season.
The 6-foot-11, 220-pound center from Louisville, Ky. plays for Ballard High School.
As a high school freshman he produced 16.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while shooting 69 percent from the field to help Ballard (23-7) advance to the 7th Region championship game. He was named a MaxPreps freshman All-American.
There isn’t much in the way of rankings yet for the class of 2029. Those should come out in the next couple months. But Grivna will clearly be one of the top players in the class nationally.
For his size and age, Grivna is skilled with good footwork and a strong post up game. He also runs the floor well, and he can step out and make threes at an efficient rate.
For travel basketball Grivna plays for Wildcats Select 15u team on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. In eight games thus far on the circuit he’s posting 20.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per contest. He has shot 70.9% from the field including 6 of 10 from three.
In addition to IU, Grivna already has high major offers from Ohio State, Arizona State, Virginia Tech and Texas Tech.
Grivna’s mother played basketball for Louisville and his father played football for the Cardinals. His AAU coach Ellis Myles also played basketball at Louisville.
