Indiana extended a scholarship offer on Saturday to one of the top players in the class of 2024.

Forward Liam McNeeley attends Plano (Texas) John Paul II H.S., and plays for Drive Nation on the Nike EYBL Circuit.

As a sophomore (2021-22) at John Paul II, McNeeley averaged 17.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in 38 games (all starts), and his team won the TAPPS 6A State Championship after going 31-7 and winning 10 straight to close the season.  He was named first team all-state.

As a member of the 2021 USA Basketball U16 National Team, McNeeley averaged 5.7 points and 5.0 rebounds to help the USA to a 6-0 record and gold at the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Xalpala, Mexico.

The 6-foot-8 McNeeley is ranked the No. 13 overall player in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports Composite.  A 5-star prospect, he is ranked the No. 1 power forward in the class by that outlet.

Several members of McNeeley’s family played college basketball including his mother Ashley (Rice, 1994-96); uncles Chad Elsey (SMU and Baylor, 1997-2001) and John Inde (SMU, 1998-2001); grandfather Chuck Elsey (TCU, 1971-73); and great-grandfather Gordon Elsey (Tulsa, 1949).

Although he is listed as a power forward, McNeeley is a highly-skilled perimeter-oriented big man who makes threes and can beat his man off the dribble.

Indiana joins Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Stanford, TCU, Texas, and Texas Tech as schools that have offered according to his 247Sports profile page.

McNeeley is the eighth player IU has offered in the class of 2024.  For a complete recap of Indiana’s 2023 through 2025 offers and prospects, GO HERE.
