Despite the fact that they already have two verbal backcourt commits in the class, Indiana isn’t done exploring new options in the 2023 guard ranks.
Rising senior guard Elmarko Jackson announced an offer from Indiana on his Twitter page on Friday morning.
The 6-foot-3 Jackson is ranked No. 91 overall in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 17 combo guard according to that same outlet.
This is how 247Sports national analyst Adam Finkelstein recently described Jackson’s game:
“The combo-guard is one of the most physically imposing guards in the class with good size, strength, and an almost unmatched ability to get downhill,” Finkelstein wrote.
“Defensively, he is aggressive and impactful guarding the ball given his combination of quickness, power, and commitment.”
Hailing from New Jersey, the 4-star guard has most recently starred at Academy of the New Church. He averaged 17.9 points per game to go with 5.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.0 steals on 47 percent shooting from the field overall and 35 percent from three according to MaxPreps.
Jackson recently transferred to South Kent School (Conn.) in the highly competitive NEPSAC conference.
Jackson plays spring and summer basketball for We R1 on the Under Armour circuit.
Jackson was thought to be a heavy Maryland lean at one point and recently took an official visit there, but their inability to close has kept the door open for new late suitors like Indiana. The Daily Hoosier has learned that IU assistant coach Yasir Rosemond watched Jackson closely this week at the NBPA top-100 camp and liked his game. All three IU assistants are down in Orlando, Fla. for the camp.
In addition to IU and Maryland, Jackson has offers from Texas, Kansas, LSU, Cal, DePaul, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, St. John’s Tennessee, Virginia, and Seton Hall from the high major ranks. Many of those offers have come in the last month.
