    IU basketball confirms the addition of Alabama transfer Aiden Sherrell

    The IU basically program formally announced the signing of Alabama transfer power forward Aiden Sherrell on Tuesday.

    A product of Detroit, the 6-foot-10 and 255-pound Sherrell arrives with two years of eligibility remaining.  He has played in 70 games with 34 starts.

    Aiden Sherrell Signs to Indiana Men’s Basketball

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana head men’s basketball coach Darian DeVries announced the addition of junior-to-be forward Aiden Sherrell to the basketball program on Tuesday. Sherrell, a 2024 McDonald’s All-American, joined Indiana after two seasons at Alabama.

    During his two-year run with the Crimson Tide, Sherrell averaged 7.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks in 16.1 minutes per game. He compiled three career double-doubles, was on the floor for 53 wins, and advanced to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament twice. He posted 17.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per 40 minutes since the start of the 2024-25 season.

    Sherrell enjoyed a breakout second season in Tuscaloosa. He started all 34 games played for the Crimson Tide and averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in 23.9 minutes per game. He shot 53.9% (130-of-241) from the floor, 33.8% (27-of-80) from the 3-point line, and 71.3% (92-of-129) from the free throw line. The Detroit native scored in double figures on 19 occasions, reached the 20-point plateau four times, and posted three double-doubles. He ranked 13th nationally in blocked shots per game (2.2).

    During his debut season, he appeared in 36 games off the Bama bench. Sherrell averaged 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game. He shot 51.1% (45-of-88) from the floor and 33.3% (14-of-42) from the 3-point line. Per 40 minutes, he averaged of 15.6 points and 13.0 rebounds.

    The 6-11 forward was selected to a 2024 McDonald’s All-American, was a consensus top-30 recruit, and was ranked as the No. 4 center in the 2024 class by ESPN. He averaged 18.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in the Overtime Elite League at Prolific Prep. Sherrell posted 13.0 points and 5.2 rebounds with Vegas Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit.
