Former IU basketball star Cody Zeller was traded to the Atlanta Hawks over the summer but never suited up for them.

This week the Houston Rockets received a 2028 second-round pick from the Hawks in exchange for taking on the salary of Zeller. The trade was first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

An 11-year NBA veteran, Zeller has appeared in 552 career games (275 starts), averaging 7.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 20.9 minutes, suiting up for Charlotte, Portland, Miami, and New Orleans.

Zeller was drafted by Charlotte at No. 4 overall in the 2013 first round.

Now 32, Zeller played two seasons with Indiana and was an immediate success, winning the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2012 as voted on by the coaches. He was first-team All-Big Ten for the 2012-13 season.

For his Indiana career Zeller averaged 16.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game and shot 59.3% from the field.
