It is too soon to talk about season turning points, but here is one to keep in your back pocket. Trailing at home against Northwestern 50-48, Indiana guard Al Durham missed a free throw badly.  As the ball caromed off the rim towards the sidelines, Joey Brunk’s hand emerged seemingly out of nowhere.  After Brunk was able to tap the ball into the backcourt, he flew into his own teammates on the IU bench. Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo spoke at length this week about former Indiana head coach Bob Knight. Izzo took over the Michigan State job in 1995 and went head-to-head against Knight’s Hoosiers for five seasons.  Knight and Izzo are first and second, respectively, for most wins by a coach at a Big Ten school.  Izzo holds a 5-3 lead in head-to-head meetings. With Armaan Franklin now in Bloomington, a new crop of rising stars is emerging at Indianapolis’ Cathedral High School. Leading the way is a sophomore point guard who is also on a high major trajectory. Through 12 games, Tayshawn Comer is averaging 17.8 points, 4.7 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game for Cathedral.
