Indiana lost to Purdue on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 69-67 at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue led 33-29 at halftime.  The Hoosiers were led in the game by Xavier Johnson with 18 points and 12 assists.  Trayce Jackson-Davis added 15 points and Race Thompson had a team high 10 rebounds. IU (18-12, 9-11) will next play in the Big Ten Tournament.  They will be the No. 9 seed in the event, meaning they will play in the first game on Thursday in Indianapolis. No. 5 seed Indiana (21-7) will face No. 1 seed Ohio State at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. It will be Indiana’s second appearance in the semifinals in the last three seasons after they defeated No. 4 seed Maryland on Friday. “It’s a big win, but at the end of the day it’s just the quarter finals,” senior wing Grace Berger said after Friday’s contest.  “We still have two more games. No. 4 seed Indiana defeated No. 5 Maryland 62-51 in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten women’s basketball tournament in Indianapolis. The Hoosiers were led by Mackenzie Holmes with 17 points.  Grace Berger added 16 points and 11 rebounds.  IU’s defense limited Maryland to 31.4 percent from the field for the game, 21.1 percent in the fourth quarter, and forced 14 Terrapin turnovers.  Maryland was 0-of-12 from behind the 3-point line. While Indiana fans wonder about the program’s NCAA Tournament chances, their place in the Big Ten Tournament is set. In total, 128 tournament scenarios remain according to projections by Michigan State associate AD Kevin Pagua, but the Hoosiers are the No. 9 seed in every one of them.  That means they will play the first game on Thursday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on March 10. Some of the cast members have changed, but in so many ways, the song remains the same. A strong, promising start against suspect competition, followed by a February free fall in the Big Ten. In many ways that was the story of the Archie Miller era at Indiana, and to this point the Mike Woodson era has followed the same script. The No. 5-seed (No. 14/12) Hoosiers (20-7) will face No. 4-Seed (No. 11/11) Maryland (21-7) at approximately 1:50 p.m. Eastern at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  The game will air on the Big Ten Network.
