Indiana will be pushing hard for a commitment when 2026 wing Sammy Jackson visits next month. According to a report by Joe Tipton of On3, Jackson has narrowed his recruitment to four schools — IU, Texas, VCU and St. Joe’s.  He plans to announce his college decision on June 25. Jackson is visiting IU June 13-14 and that will be followed by a visit to Texas June 16-17. The 6-foot-7 Jackson attends Roman Catholic H.S. in Philadelphia. He helped lead Roman to the PIAA 6A title game and averaged 13.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.…

After spring practice and the final wave of transfers, Indiana is ranked No. 23 in the latest 2025 preseason ESPN SP+ model. Going into the the 2024 season that same model produced by Bill Connelly had the Hoosiers projected to be the No. 81 team in the nation.  They climbed all the way to No. 11 by the end of the historic 11-2 campaign. New IU basketball head coach Darian DeVries will lead the Hoosiers on foreign tour in a couple months. Indiana will be in Puerto Rico Aug. 5-12 and play three games, two against Mega Superbet and one against the Puerto Rico All Star team, based on an e-mail that went out to IU Varsity Club members on Thursday. The games are slated for Aug. 6, 9 and 11.  Indiana is also planning interactive events with DeVries and the IU players over the course of the week on the island.  More details will be provided in the days to come. IU is after one of the fastest rising players in the 2026 class.  And he’s one of the biggest too. The new Indiana staff offered 7-foot and 280-pound rising senior center Arafan Diané a couple weeks ago. National recruiting outlet 247Sports named him this week as the top center in the 2026 class and No. 22 overall player.  While the rankings updates cycle through, he’s currently listed as a 4-star, the No. 109 overall player in the class, and the No. 12 center according to the average of the national recruiting sites. Clemson basketball coach Brad Brownell’s name generated considerable buzz during the recent IU basketball job search. As it turns out, there was at least a conversation involving the Indiana native and IU. But Brownell does not appear to be interested in remaining in coaching long term, and sought an arrangement that he might have only been able to find at Clemson. Clemson Insider is reporting Brownell negotiated a special provision in his new six-year contract signed last month with Clemson that provides him a new role at the school should he decide to step down from his current head coaching…

The offers just keep coming from this new Indiana coaching staff. Tennessee-based class of 2027 wing Malachi Jordan is the latest high school prospect to report an Indiana offer.  That came on Tuesday evening via his social media pages. New Indiana assistant coach Rod Clark was recruiting Jordan for Tennessee before joining Darian DeVries’ staff. Indiana left too many runners on base in their pool play opener in the Big Ten Tournament at Charles Schwab Field Tuesday afternoon. And a 5-2 loss to No. 10 seed Rutgers means the Hoosiers’ season will almost certainly be coming to an end in Omaha before the weekend. IU didn’t score until a Devin Taylor two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth.  They had 10 hits but left 11 runners on base. Indiana has offered class of 2026 4-star wing Cole Cloer, he announced on Tuesday. The 6-foot-7 Cloer attends Caldwell Academy in Hillsborough, N.C.  He averaged 18.9 points with 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a high school junior.  He shot 40.7% from three while leading his team to a state championship. Based on the average of the national recruiting sites, Cloer is a 4-star prospect, the No. 30 overall player in the 2026 class, and the No. 13 small forward. The Big Ten office announced its postseason baseball awards on Tuesday afternoon, and in total, seven Hoosiers were honored by the league, led by Big Ten Freshman of the Year – Jake Hanley. Junior outfielder Devin Taylor was named First Team All-Big Ten for the third time in his career, becoming the first IU player since Mickey Morandini (1986-88) to accomplish the feat. The Cincinnati, Ohio native hit .366 with 16 home runs and a career high 60 RBIs. He had 75 hits and finished top three in the Big Ten with 51 walks. The likely first round draft pick…

Indiana has offered class of 2027 national top-10 wing Bruce Branch III, his AAU program announced. The 6-foot-7 Branch attends Perry H.S. in Gilbert Ariz.  As a sophomore he averaged 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest to help the Pumas (27-2) capture their fourth consecutive state championship. According to the average of the national recruiting sites, Branch is a 4-star prospect, the No. 8 overall player in the 2027 class, and the No. 4 small forward.  He’s rated a 5-star by ESPN and right on the cusp at the other outlets.
