The first two days of the week brought bad news for two former IU football stars. On Tuesday, the Denver Broncos waived their 2021 fifth-round draft choice Jamar Johnson. Johnson had just played in the team’s Saturday preseason opener, and he led the Broncos with seven tackles. In 2021 Johnson made the Denver 53-man roster as a rookie despite dealing with an illness and an injury.  He played only three games on special teams, and ended up with no stats. Class of 2023 IU basketball point guard commit Gabe Cupps and several top college prospects from the Midwest are joining forces to benefit the Kentucky Flood Relief Fund of the American Red Cross. The Midwest Charity Classic basketball game is August 27th at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington, Ky. The game will feature ESPN’s Seth Greenberg as the emcee and commentator. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say helping Donaven McCulley to reach his potential at wide receiver is right in Adam Henry’s wheelhouse. Former IU basketball star D.J. White had a good run on the hardwood. Once a prized recruit of former IU coach Mike Davis, White announced his retirement from the game of basketball on his Instagram page on Monday, two weeks before his 36th birthday. “You are never ready for it to be over, but I am ready for what’s next,” White wrote in a post he titled “Dear basketball.” The Tuscaloosa, Ala. product thanked his wife and three daughters, his parents, teammates, coaches and agents. “I’ve gained many lifetime friendships from this game,” White wrote.  “Thank you for assisting in…

He’s the highest ranked recruit in program history, and Dasan McCullough might be ready to make a splash in year one. At the very least, McCullough made an impression on the Big Ten Network crew that was in Bloomington on Friday for the team’s first scrimmage. The state of Indiana’s top prospects in the class of 2025 both plan to make two more visits to Bloomington in the coming months. 2025 forward Trent Sisley will visit Indiana for Hoosier Hysteria on Oct. 7 his father told The Daily Hoosier, and he’ll make a return visit on Nov. 30 when Indiana hosts North Carolina as part of the Big Ten / ACC Challenge. Former IU basketball guard Devonte Green has signed with Atomeromu SE Paks and will play in Hungary’s A Division this coming season. It will be his third year as a professional. Green played last season at Larissa BC in Greek GBL league. In 20 games he averaged 8.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1assists. He helped them to a league semifinal appearance. Green has previously played professionally in the NBA Summer League (Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz White). If Tom Allen has his way, no one outside of his program will know who IU football’s starting quarterback will be until just before the season-opening kickoff against Illinois on Sept. 2.
