One thing seemed certain when college athletes were allowed to monetize their name, image and likeness beginning in the summer of 2021. In an uncertain world, the options and resources were sure to rapidly evolve and expand. That’s exactly what has happened, and as it has turned out, there are several paths for IU fans to both support the athletes they cheer for while receiving tangible benefits themselves. Below are the organizations and online options we’ve come across that offer real benefits for fans and businesses, and are operated transparently by reputable organizations. Some of these organizations and storefronts have…

If 2022-23 is going to be a down year for the Big Ten, national college basketball analyst Andy Katz didn’t get the memo. Writing for NCAA.com, Katz put eight Big Ten teams in his preseason top-36, and placed Indiana as high as anyone we’ve seen thus far, slotting the Hoosiers in at No. 7 in the country and the highest ranked team in the conference. “The Hoosiers are the team to beat in the Big Ten with Trayce Jackson-Davis,” Katz said. Katz also placed Illinois (14), Michigan State (15), Michigan (16), Rutgers (19), Purdue (22), Ohio State (28) and Iowa…
Indiana appears to be a healthy team as the Hoosiers open practice for the 2022-23 season this week. The lone player who is known to have had a major offseason procedure was Trey Galloway, and right on schedule with the opening of practice, he is unlimited and back to live action. Even that timing was a bit conservative just to make sure the junior guard didn’t push his repaired groin unnecessarily. “I’ve been running up and down the past couple weeks, and the five-on-five just started this week,” Galloway said at the program’s media day on Thursday. “I feel like…
Indiana’s first road trip in 2022 looked a lot like their first venture away from home in 2021 — a first half onslaught. Hoosiers in the headlights. The scoreboard operator was very busy in the first half at Cincinnati on Saturday, much like they were at Iowa a year ago, as the points piled up for the home team like a video game. And while these 2022 Hoosiers started their campaign 3-0, it was easy to see they were playing with fire, scraping by against Illinois, Idaho and Western Kentucky. Facing their first big-time opponent in a challenging venue, on…

Indiana offered one of the more explosive athletes in the class of 2024 on Friday afternoon. After assistants Kenya Hunter and Yasir Rosemond visited on Thursday, North Carolina based shooting guard Rakease Passmore announced an offer from the IU staff on his Twitter page. “Blessed to receive an offer from Indiana. Thank you to Coach Woodson & the staff for the opportunity!” Passmore wrote. Originally from Florida, the 6-foot-5 Passmore played last season at A.C. Reynolds (Asheville, N.C.), where he scored 19 points, and added 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He averaged 21 points playing with…
A sold-out crowd is expected to fill the stands on Saturday in Cincinnati as the Bearcats seek their 29th straight win at Nippert Stadium. Indiana will have revenge on their minds after a loss to UC a year ago wrecked a promising 2021 campaign. The Hoosiers hit the road for the first time in 2022, and try to stay perfect along the way. Here’s everything you need to know about IU’s fourth game of the season. Indiana continues to have a heavy presence in the talent rich state of Georgia. On Friday, class of 2024 guard Gicarri Harris received an offer from the Hoosiers according to Shun Williams. Harris is a solidly built 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard out of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson High. With assistant coach Yasir Rosemond, Indiana has a close relationship with Harris’ AAU program, the Atlanta Celtics on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. Rosemond and IU head coach Mike Woodson watched Harris’ 16u team this summer. But it is worth noting — Harris recently visited Purdue, and he has a unique connection to that school…
Indiana fifth-year guard Xavier Johnson won’t be suspended for any games during the 2022-23 season after his offseason traffic incident. But he’ll need a ride to all of the games at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. IU head coach Mike Woodson was asked on Thursday at the program’s media day whether his starting guard will miss any time after he was caught in April speeding in Bloomington and attempted to evade police in his car. In August Johnson plead guilty to the charge of reckless driving at and unreasonable high speed so as to endanger safety, a Class C misdemeanor. A felony…
