Upon further review, C.J. West can play in the first half vs. Charlotte. The IU defensive tackle was flagged for targeting when he made helmet-to-helmet contact with UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers in the second half of Saturday’s 42-13 Indiana win. Indiana has a massive recruiting weekend starting tomorrow, with 2025 priority targets Braylon Mullins, Trent Sisley and Eric Reibe all on the Bloomington campus. IU guards Trey Galloway and Jakai Newton are both still working their way back from injuries, coach Mike Woodson said on Wednesday afternoon at the program’s media day in Bloomington. Galloway appears to be on track for a return to full contact basketball very soon, possibly as soon as next week. “He’s been doing a lot of our conditioning work,” Woodson said of Galloway.  “He’s not on the floor doing 5-on-5 yet. Former IU basketball head coach Mike Davis was announced on Wednesday as an assistant at Memphis under Penny Hardaway. Davis comes to Memphis after spending the last six seasons as head coach at Detroit Mercy (2018-24). He coached his son there for five seasons. Davis’ coaching resume touts 35-plus years of experience on the sideline, including 24 years of head coaching experience with 14 postseason trips.
