Three quick reasons why IU football beat Nebraska 56-7 | Highlights | Final stats

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana came through in a big way for a sold out Memorial Stadium crowd with a dominant 56-7 win over Nebraska.

Below are three quick reasons why the Hoosiers won, along with highlights and the final stats.

Indiana (7-0, 4-0) will host Washington next Saturday.

Stay tuned for more coverage of the game from The Daily Hoosier.

THREE QUICK REASONS WHY INDIANA WON

    1. Another fast start.  Indiana scored on their first drive of the game, as Justice Ellison capped off a 75-yard opening drive with a 5-yard run.  Nebraska appeared ready to score on their second drive, but IU forced a fumble after Nebraska got into the red zone.  And then came the offensive onslaught IU fans have seen all season.  They posted consecutive TD drives of 88, 75, and 74 yards to take a 28-7 lead into halftime

    2. Opportunistic defense.  Indiana took it away five times to stymy any attempt by Nebraska to generate a comeback.  True freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola looked rattled at times and threw three interceptions.  Nebraska fumbled three times and lost two of them.  The Hoosiers had just one turnover, and that was a Hail Mary pass into the end zone at halftime.

    3. Offensive balance once again.  Indiana continues to prove their versatility on the offensive side of the ball.  They passed for 280 yards and rushed for 215 against a Nebraska defense that was giving up just 84 rushing yards and 272 total yards per game.  IU finished with 495 total yards.  Justice Ellison rushed for 105 yards.  Quarterback Kurtis Rourke threw for 189 but left the game at halftime with a throwing hand injury.
