Several former Hoosiers back in Bloomington working out

Several former Hoosiers have been spotted back in Indiana over the last few days.

As the 2024-25 team continues their summer program, former players Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Miller Kopp, Race Thompson and Nate Childress have all been back in Bloomington for workouts.

Jackson-Davis and Kopp were also both involved with a fundraiser golf outing in French Lick related to IU’s NIL efforts.

Here are some photos of the former players posted on social media:

On a podcast released over the weekend, IU coach Mike Woodson said he is always open to staying in contact with former players.

“Even if you left me on bad or good terms, I’m going to tell you ‘Hey my phone is always open if you need me,'” Woodson said.  “Because it ain’t about me man, it’s about these young men and how they develop as they move on in life — that’s what it’s about.”

Jackson-Davis was a rookie sensation for Golden State, averaging 7.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 16.6 minutes per game.

A first-round draft choice, Hood-Schifino is coming off an injury-plagued rookie season with the Lakers that saw him play in just 21 games and average 1.6 points in 5.2 minutes per contest.  He underwent back surgery in March and did not return.

Kopp played the 2023-24 season for the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA’s G League.  That team won the league title with Kopp averaging 6.3 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 31.1 percent from three.

Thompson suffered an injury last summer and has been rehabilitating since.  He was with the IU team in Bloomington for much of the 2023-24 season.

Now that he has exhausted his college eligibility, Johnson is currently evaluating his professional opportunities.

After using his fifth season of eligibility at Indiana Wesleyan, Childress is expected to be back with the IU basketball program this year as a graduate assistant.
