Report indicates Annor Boateng’s IU basketball visit is his last, with decision soon after

It appears Indiana will get class of 2024 top-30 guard Annor Boateng’s last visit this fall before he makes a college decision.

In July, the Little Rock, Ark. product narrowed his recruitment to eight schools — Arkansas, LSU, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Auburn and Indiana.

Based on a report this week by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Boateng will make it to just six of his top schools, with Indiana in the desirable spot of getting his final visit.  As we reported over the weekend, Boateng is taking an official visit to IU in late September.

Boateng already made an official visit to Arkansas July 27-28.  According to the Democrat Gazette report, he plans to officially visit Missouri Aug. 25-27, Georgia Tech Sept. 1-3, LSU Sept. 15-17, Virginia Sept. 22-24 and he’ll conclude the busy month at IU Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

The Democrat Gazette says Boateng hopes to make his college decision “shortly after his final visit.”  College staffs generally like to be in the position of having the opportunity to make a final impression in recruitments, and it looks like IU will have that chance with Boateng.

The visit from the Boateng will be the last of five in September by top-50 class of 2024 targets to Bloomington.  That visitor list also includes Liam McNeeley (Sept. 8-10), Derik Queen (Sept. 8-10), Curtis Givens (Sept. 8-10), and Austin Swartz (Sept. 14-16).  To this point IU doesn’t have a commit in the 2024 class.

Boateng has had the attention of IU coach Mike Woodson, who has been directly engaged in his recruitment, he told The Daily Hoosier in July.

Woodson no doubt likes Boateng’s physicality and college ready frame, along with his versatility as an athletic three-level scoring wing — something IU hasn’t had in abundance in recent years.

IU also has a connection to Boateng.  He refers to Indiana center and fellow Little Rock product Kel’el Ware as a friend.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Boateng averaged 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game this past season, leading Little Rock Central to a 24-7 record and the quarterfinals of the 6A state tournament.  He was named the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior.
