On Friday night, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Heat have traded Victor Oladipo to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski added more intel on the breaking deal:

Oklahoma City is acquiring Victor Oladipo and draft compensation to absorb his $9.45 million expiring contract, sources tell ESPN. Miami creates a trade exception of $9.45M with the deal.

For the third time in just over four years Oladipo suffered a major knee injury in April. The latest injury involves Oladipo’s left knee, while his prior history of major issues related to his right.

Oladipo missed all but eight games last season due to a second right quadriceps tendon tear. He missed a year of action the first time he suffered a right quadricep tendon tear while the Indiana Pacers in 2019.

The 31-year old Oladipo has missed 255 of a possible 374 games since initially getting hurt while playing for Indiana in 2019.

Former IU teammates Cody Zeller and Oladipo were reunited in Miami this year.

Oladipo made the NBA All-Star game twice while with the Indiana Pacers prior to his wave of injuries.

Prior to playing for the Pacers, Oladipo spent a year with Oklahoma City during the 2016-17 campaign.

Oladipo was a consensus first team All-American at IU in 2013.
