One of the more significant questions leading into the 2026-27 IU basketball season has been answered Sunday evening ahead of the team’s first exhibition game.
Third-year guards Jaeden Mustaf and Darren Harris are both starting for the Hoosiers against Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The pair join Samet Yigitoglu, Aiden Sherrell and Markus Burton in the first five.
Mustaf and Harris have initially beat out Villanova transfer guard Bryce Lindsay, who started 31 games a season ago and averaged 12.3 points per game.
The 6-foot-6 Mustaf gives IU size and physicality. The two-year starter at Georgia Tech produced 516 points, 206 rebounds, 112 assists, and 39 steals in 55 appearances with the Yellow Jackets.
Harris did not start in 57 appearances with Duke but has generated significant buzz for his shooting prowess during the offseason.
Lindsay is expected to have a significant role off the bench, along with Trent Sisley and Sam Alexis.
Freshmen Prince-Alexander Moody, Vaughn Karvala and Trevor Manhertz are all expected to contribute as well. Karvala is in uniform Sunday night after missing some practice time recently.
