Report: 2022 forward Noah Clowney wants to visit Indiana in August

On the first day Mike Woodson was allowed to watch recruiting targets in person, his first stop on Friday was in South Carolina to observe class of 2022 forward Noah Clowney.

The 6-foot-10 Clowney is one of the fastest rising prospects in the incoming senior class.  He went from unranked to the No. 55 player in the country according to Rivals.  The 247Sports Composite lists Clowney as the No. 78 overall prospect in the class.

After he played on Friday in front of IU and other college coaches, Clowney told Lou Bezjak of The State he wants to visit IU in August.

“He has taken an unofficial to Georgia, hopes to visit Indiana in August and Tennessee this summer and possibly visit with South Carolina and Clemson at some point,” Bezjak wrote.

Clowney received an offer from Florida on Friday and also has offers from South Carolina, Xavier, Clemson, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech in addition to IU.  He told Bezjak he wants to try to get in as many visits as possible.

Indiana has had June visits from 2022 priority targets Kaleb Banks, Justin Taylor and Kyle Filipowski.  Visits won’t be allowed after the first week of July, but will open back up in August.

Indiana offered Clowney in April.  He attends Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C.  There he helped lead Dorman to the state finals while averaging 10 points, 8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

Clowney played very well in front of Woodson.  Rivals national analyst Jamie Shaw had this report on his performance this weekend.

“Perhaps no player took more advantage of this stage than Clowney,” Shaw wrote.  “Offensively, the 6-foot-9 Clowney showcased an array of dunks, jumpers, and off ball cuts. Defensively the Spartanburg (S.C.) Dorman High prospect had a typical showing of switch-ability and rim protection.”

In May Clowney shared with The Daily Hoosier Woodson’s message to him.

“He wants to bring an NBA style to college basketball,” Clowney said. “Because I’m versatile, he thinks I’d be able to play in his system very well.”

Bezjak’s report also discusses Julian Phillips, another 2022 South Carolina based forward Indiana has offered, along with point guard Jazian Gortman, a top-25 2022 prospect Woodson also watched on Friday and a potential name on the radar.
