IU football is one of five finalists for class of 2027 4-star star safety Davion Jones.
The Cornelius, N.C. product (Hough H.S.) is down to Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, LSU and South Carolina with a targeted July 25 decision date.
Schools that offered such as Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Tennessee were left off his list of finalists.
Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals is reporting Jones will officially visit all five of his final schools, starting with IU this weekend. He previously visited IU this spring.
Jones is an elite safety prospect in the class. He’s ranked the No. 148 overall player and the No. 11 safety according to the industry average. He’s a consensus 4-star across the recruiting sites.
Indiana had two safeties from its 2025 national championship team who went on to NFL contracts — Louis Moore and Devan Boykin.
Over the last two seasons, Jones has 118 tackles, 11 interceptions and 19 pass breakups.
The 6-foot and 180-pound Jones is also one of the top sprinters in the state of North Carolina, regularly clocking in under 11 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Jones’ junior season highlights are below.
