New Albany and Romeo Advance to Semistate | IHSAA Scoring List Update | Video

Indiana University basketball recruiting target Romeo Langford played two regional games on Saturday as New Albany won both games and rolled on to the semi-state round of the Indiana state high school basketball tournament.  The Bulldogs improved to 25-1 on the season and they have now won 22 games in a row.

New Albany will now face undefeated Warren Central (30-0).  According to the IHSAA’s website, that game will be played at 3:00 ET next Saturday afternoon.  The Warriors dominated Terre Haute South 83-48 to advance to the semistate.

In the first game, New Albany handled Bloomington South by a score of 65-45.  For the game Langford scored 28 points and added 10 rebounds while his teammate Sean East added 11 points and went over the 1,000 point mark for his career.

That victory set up a regional final contest on Saturday night with Center Grove and another Indiana recruiting target — Trayce Jackson-Davis (2019).  The Trojans put up a good fight, but Langford was too much, scoring 39 for the game as New Albany won it 69-56.  East added 13 points for New Albany while Jackson-Davis scored 24 to lead Center Grove.

With at most two games remaining for New Albany, the mountain is too high for Langford to catch Damon Bailey and become the state’s all-time leading scorer.  Langford currently sits 167 points behind the former Bedford North Lawrence and IU great.  Langford does still have a good shot at finishing second all-time.  In order to do that he would need to score 53 points which should be well within his reach if New Albany reaches the state championship game.

Here is the current all-time IHSAA boy’s scoring list:
