Indiana women’s basketball has made an addition to at least in part address the void left by Mackenzie Holmes.

6-foot-3 Tennessee transfer forward Karoline Striplin announced on Thursday morning she is transferring to IU.

“Karoline is a tough post player who can score inside and out while also establishing herself as a great post defender,” IU coach Teri Moren said in a release.  “She is a player who we’ve faced a couple of times and have been familiar with since high school, so we know her skill set and work ethic will be the perfect fit for us. We are excited for Karoline and her family to be Hoosiers.”

Striplin was one of four players to appear in all 33 games for the Vols in 2023-24, starting 11 of them and averaging career bests of 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game.  She scored in double figures in a career-high eight games and carded her first collegiate double-double.  Striplin posted career season highs for minutes, field goals, three-pointers, free throws, rebounds and steals.

The Alabama native shot 49.1 percent from the field and 76.2 percent from the free throw line this season.  Striplin can make threes as well.  She has converted on 32.3 percent of her 96 career attempts.

For her career at Tennessee, Striplin has played in 91 games over three seasons, with 39 starts.  She has scored 457 points and grabbed 255 rebounds during her time in Knoxville.

Striplin will have one year of eligibility remaining.  She’ll join a returning IU core of starters Chloe Moore-McNeil, Sydney Parrish and Yarden Garzon.  First-team All-Big Ten standouts Holmes and Sara Scalia are out of eligibility.

Out of high school, Striplin was the No. 45 overall player, No. 9 forward, and a four-star prospect in the espnW 100.  She chose Tennessee over close to 30 schools, including NC State, Oregon and UCLA.
