ESPN has posted its matchup predictor to each of the Gamecast pages for Indiana’s 2026 football season.
The matchup predictor is based on the outlet’s Football Power Index (FPI), a computer model that has the Hoosiers ranked No. 6 headed into the 2026 campaign.
Here is the percentage chance FPI currently gives Indiana to win each of their games this season:
GAME 1
Indiana 98.2% North Texas 1.8%
GAME 2
Indiana 99% Howard 1%
GAME 3
Indiana 97.6% Western Kentucky 2.4%
GAME 4
Indiana 95% Northwestern 5%
GAME 5
Indiana 92.9% Rutgers 7.1%
GAME 6
Indiana 81% Nebraska 19%
GAME 7
Indiana 39.2% Ohio State 60.8%
GAME 8
Indiana 65.5% Michigan 34.5%
GAME 9
Indiana 95.6% Minnesota 4.4%
GAME 10
Indiana 77.3% USC 22.7%
GAME 11
Indiana 76.2% Washington 23.8%
GAME 12
Indiana 96.1% Purdue 3.9%
So going into the season, FPI is predicting an 11-1 year three for Curt Cignetti based on the raw output. But these predictions will adjust over the course of the season as the results come in. For example, IU was given just a 17.3% chance to win at Penn State before the 2025 season, and an 82.7% chance the week of the game.
FPI says IU has an 18.7% chance to win the Big Ten, a 57% chance to make the College Football Playoff, a 12.8% chance to reach the national title game, and a 6.6% chance to repeat as champions.
