IU football is getting an official visit this weekend from Venice, Fla. (Venice H.S.) four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins, Jr.

He previously took an unofficial to IU in April.

The visit this weekend replaces a scheduled trip he had to Ohio State.  Watkins recently visited Ole Miss and South Carolina.  He was previously committed to Colorado.  Watkins also has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State and many others.

He is the cousin of long-time NFL wideout and former Clemson star Sammy Watkins.

The 5-foot-10 and 175-pound Watkins is ranked by the On3 Industry Ranking – a weighted average of all four major recruiting services – as the number 178 prospect in the country for the 2025 class. He is additionally ranked as the 22nd-best wide receiver in the country and the number 25 prospect in the state of Florida.

He’s rated a 5-star and the No. 2 receiver in the nation by Rivals.  Watkins is the latest high-profile recruit to visit IU in recent weeks, following Georgia-based 5-star quarterback Julian Lewis.

Watkins transferred to Venice for his senior year from First Baptist.  Prior to that he spent a couple years at IMG Academy. With First Baptist he had 1,224 scrimmage yards (1,170 receiving, 51 rushing, 3 passing) with 17 total touchdowns in eight games. With the Ascenders, Watkins posted 34 receptions for 526 yards and 12 touchdowns over his sophomore and junior seasons.

For what it’s worth, Watkins recently inked a deal to be a brand ambassador for Adidas.  Indiana is an Adidas sponsored program.

IU currently has one receiver in their 2025 class, Virginia-based 3-star LeBron Bond.
