The Hoosiers plucked a recruit right out of the heart of Razorbacks’ country.

Indiana picked up its first class of 2022 commit on Monday afternoon when 3-star linebacker Kaiden Turner announced his verbal pledge.

The Fayetteville, Ark. based linebacker broke the news on his Twitter page.

“First off I would like to say that nothing I’ve accomplished to this day has been done by myself,” Turner said in an attachment to his Twitter post.  “I’ve been blessed by God with the ability to play the game and use football as my platform to spread His name.  After a lot of prayer and support from my family, coaches and friends I’m excited to announce I will spend the next 4 years at THE INDIANA UNIVERSITY.”

The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Turner is the No. 35 ranked inside linebacker in the 2022 class according to the industry generated 247Sports Composite.  Indiana offered a scholarship in May, and Turner turned in a strong junior season soon thereafter.

For the 2020 season Turner had 70 tackles, 35 solo, six sacks, three interceptions, 12 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries and six total touchdowns (one defensive, two special teams and four rushing) in nine games according to his Twitter page.

Turner chose Indiana over offers from California, Kansas State, Louisville, Wake Forest, Memphis, Kansas, Houston, Arkansas and Kansas State, among others.

Linebacker is a priority position for IU in the 2022 class.  The Hoosiers have several veteran players at the position that will need to be replaced, including All-American Micah McFadden, Cam Jones, James Miller, and Thomas Allen.
