IU football game day: Rutgers primer and prediction

Indiana enters the final quarter of the 2021 season with perhaps its best chance remaining to pick up another win on the opposing sideline Saturday.

The Hoosiers could get a lift and bolster those chances if either of quarterbacks Michael Penix, Jr. or Jack Tuttle return from injury to face Rutgers.

Indiana has faced six ranked opponents, each of which has entered the Top 10 in 2021, with a combined record of 39-7.  Nothing will come easy with IU’s struggling offense, but the Hoosiers are favored and will look to pick up their first home win of the season against an FBS opponent.

It’s the Hoosiers and Scarlet Knights as from Bloomington as Indiana kicks off a two-game home stand.

    PREDICTION

It is a tough call without knowing who plays quarterback for Indiana.  Tuttle and possibly Penix, Jr. could be available.  Let’s go with the assumption at least one of them starts — and finishes the game.

The Hoosiers snap their five game losing streak and earn their first Big Ten win of the season.

    INDIANA 20

    RUTGERS 17
