    IU basketball recruiting: Hoosiers offer 2026 5-star guard Caleb Holt

    Indiana offered one of the top players in the 2026 class on Tuesday.

    6-foot-6 and 200-pound Huntsville, Ala. guard Caleb Holt announced an offer from IU on his X account.

    Holt is a consensus national top-five and 5-star player in the 2026 class, and the No. 1 shooting guard.

    Holt was named the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year after he led Buckhorn H.S. to a 28-5 record and the Class 6 state championship this past season. Holt averaged 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.4 assists per game. He concluded his sophomore year with 1,798 points so far in his prep basketball career.

    Holt played up a year on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit for Game Elite and averaged 17.8 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 45.2% overall and 33.9% from three.

    He also recently played for Team USA’s U17 squad.  Throughout the FIBA U17 World Cup, he averaged 11.1 points and 1.9 steals on 57.1 percent shooting from the field.  He was a roommate of 2025 IU target Jalen Haralson during that team’s trip to Turkey.

    This is how national 247Sports analyst Eric Bossi described Holt in advance of the World Cup:

    “Holt projects as one of the most dangerous shooters on the roster,” Bossi wrote.  “But Holt’s real strengths are his athleticism, open-court finishing and defense. There aren’t many more competitive guys than Holt.”

    In addition to IU, Holt has high major offers from North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgetown, Louisville, Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kansas State, LSU, Mississippi State, and Mississippi.

    He’s taken visits to Alabama, Auburn, Houston, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee so far.
