IU basketball recruiting: Hoosiers offer 2024 top-50 forward Aiden Sherrell

Indiana continues to expand its pool of frontcourt targets in the class of 2024.

On Wednesday, Utah-based big man Aiden Sherrell announced an offer from IU on his Twitter page.

The 6-foot-10 Sherrell attends Wasatch Academy in Utah after transferring there from Norcross, Ga.  He is originally from the Detroit, Mich. area.

Sherrell plays with the Utah Syndicate on the Nike EYBL circuit.  He is leading 16u with 10 rebounds per game to go with 11.8 points.  He is also fourth in blocks at 2.1 per contest.  He hasn’t been an efficient scorer to this point, making just 41.8 percent of his shots overall including 9-of-31 (29 percent) from 3-point range.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Sherrell is the No. 46 overall player in the 2024 class, and the No. 7 power forward.

Sherrell combines size, athleticism and length with a versatile skill set.  He makes jump shots, attacks off the bounce and finishes at the rim.  But his real strength right now is his motor.  Sherrell runs the court well, is a very high level rebounder, and an aggressive defender.

His older brother played college basketball, most recently at IU East in Richmond.

In addition to Indiana, Sherrell has offers from Arizona State, Creighton, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Nebraska, UAB, St. John’s, UNLV, Memphis and LSU.

IU assistant coach Yasir Rosemond is taking the lead with Sherrell.
