Indiana has formally entered the mix for one of the top shooting guards in the class of 2024.

On Saturday, Rockingham, N.C. based Paul McNeil, Jr. announced he was offered by the IU basketball program.

McNeil announced the offer on his Twitter page.

Standing at 6-foot-6, McNeil attends Richmond High School.

Indiana appears to be the third program to offer McNeil, along with Tennessee and Western Carolina.  He also has interest from Clemson, Kansas, Kentucky and N.C. State according to his 247Sports profile page.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins described McNeil’s game this summer.

“A multi-talented prospect who is a high-level shot maker, Paul McNeil has been the best perimeter prospect I have seen in the class to date,” Jenkins wrote.  “He immediately passed the eye test with his positional size, exceptional length, and quintessential frame at the shooting guard position. But his ability to score the rock in bunches is what separates himself from all of his peers. He shows great confidence to score at an early age and his jumper projects as a deadly weapon for years to come. There is a lot to love with his game as his talent and skill level are insane and beyond undeniable.”

For AAU basketball McNeil plays for Adidas aligned Garner Road-West.  Assistant coach Kenya Hunter appears to be leading this recruitment for IU.

According to his MaxPreps page, McNeil averaged 18.1 points per game at Richmond as a high school freshman.  He added 8.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 52 percent from the field overall including 40 percent from behind the arc.  His point and rebound averages led all freshmen in the state of North Carolina.

ESPN ranked McNeil as the No. 25 overall player in the class of 2024.
