WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana lost to Purdue on Friday evening at Mackey Arena by a final score of 81-76.

The Hoosiers led 41-37 at halftime and were led in the game by Mackenzie Mgbako with 25 points.  Trey Galloway added 15.

The three keys, highlights and final stats from the game are below.

For Mike Woodson and Trey Galloway postgame, GO HERE.

Indiana (14-8, 5-6) stays on the road with a trip to Wisconsin on Tuesday.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Too many turnovers.  Indiana gave it away 20 times and Purdue scored 26 points off those miscues.  The turnovers were a constant, as IU gave it away 10 times each half.  Trey Galloway had six of the turnovers, and Anthony Leal five.  Indiana went on several good runs during the game, but their mistakes never allowed them to pull away.

    2. Can’t contain Smith.  Purdue star point guard Braden Smith scored 24 points on 11-of-21 shooting.  He added seven assists.  Trey Kaufman-Renn added 23 including a game-winner.  But it was Smith who was constantly getting downhill and creating problems for the IU defense.  And Smith had six steals on the other end of the floor.  On a night when Purdue was just 2-of-13 from three, he made enough clutch buckets to pull it out for Purdue.

    3. Struggles at the stripe.  Indiana shot better from the field (56.6%) than the free throw line (56.3%).  Oumar Ballo has improved this year but made just 2-of-6 including just 1-of-4 in the second half.  IU made just 9-of-16 for the game and 4-of-9 after the break.
