BLOOMINGTON — Indiana defeated Lindenwood Thursday evening at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall by a final score of 73-53.

The three keys to the game, highlights and final stats are below.

For Darian DeVries, Tucker DeVries and Sam Alexis postgame, GO HERE.

Indiana led 34-18 at halftime.  They were led in the game by Tucker DeVries with 25 points.

Indiana (5-0) returns to action next Tuesday when they host Kansas State.

    THREE KEYS TO THE GAME

    1. Got the stops, sometimes multiple stops.  With its offense sputtering, Indiana needed to get stops on the other end.  And with their inability to secure defensive rebounds, sometimes multiple stops were required.  IU held Lindenwood to 17.9% shooting in the first half, and 25.4% shooting from the field for the game.  Lindenwood only shot 3 of 18 from three.  The Lions secured 19 offensive rebounds, however, which they were able to convert into 16 second chance points.  IU’s defense also forced 14 turnovers.

    2. DeVries gets hot.  Against a team they were favored to beat by more than 30 points, IU was up just 37-31 with 16 minutes to go in the second half.  Tucker DeVries decided to take matters into his own hands. He scored 15 points in a six-minute span as Indiana went on a 21-5 run to pull away for good.  DeVries finished with 25 points, making 5 of 10 from three and 6 of 6 from the free throw line.  He had no turnovers in 34 minutes.

    3. Indiana gets to the line, doesn’t turn it over.  On another night when shots weren’t falling at a rate, IU managed to preserve possessions by getting to the charity stripe and taking care of the ball.  The Hoosiers only turned it over eight times, including just once in the second half.  IU didn’t shoot a great percentage, but they got up 25 attempts at the free throw line, making 18.
