Indiana ranked No. 12 in Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook

We are now just over two months from the start of the 2022-23 college basketball season, and the prognostications for Indiana continue to be favorable.

On Thursday, the Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook published its top-25 and slotted IU in at the No. 12 spot.  That outlook for Indiana follows a consistent pattern of national publications and writers placing the Hoosiers in the No. 10 through 20 spots nationally after the Hoosiers returned 78 percent of their minutes from a year ago.

IU is the top-ranked team from the Big Ten in the Blue Ribbon rankings, followed by Michigan (18), Illinois (22), and Michigan State (24). (See also:  Big Ten roster turnover, schedules and power rankings)

Three of Indiana’s non-conference opponents are included in Blue Ribbon’s rankings, including No. 1 North Carolina, which visits IU on Nov. 30, No. 7 Kansas (Dec. 17, at Kansas), and No. 19 Arizona (Dec. 10, at Las Vegas). (See also:  Complete non-conference schedule)

A year ago, Blue Ribbon pegged national champion Kansas as the preseason No. 3 team and their final game foe North Carolina was No. 16.

Earlier this month, Blue Ribbon revealed Trayce Jackson-Davis as one of its five preseason All-Americans.

The Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook is an annual publication which is compiled by a team of college basketball writers and includes preseason previews of every NCAA Division I men’s college basketball team in the United States.

Indiana opens the 2022-23 season on Nov. 7 vs. Morehead State.
