Former IU baseball star Kyle Schwarber finished the 2025 regular season atop the NL charts in both home runs (56) and RBIs (132). Both of those totals were career bests.
Schwarber started all 162 games for the first time in his career. His home run total was the second-most in a season in franchise history behind Ryan Howard’s 58 in 2006.
The 32-year-old Schwarber has hit 38 or more home runs for four straight seasons, including 46 or more three of the last four. He’s now up to 340 home runs for his career as he continues to build a resume that could eventually be worthy of Hall of Fame consideration.
Schwarber should finish near the top in the voting for the NL MVP Award. Shohei Ohtani is the favorite, but there’s a good chance Schwarber will finish second.
Next is the pursuit of a World Series title. The Phillies are one of the favorites to win the Fall Classic. The No. 2 seed in the NL will face either the Reds or Dodgers in the NLDS beginning this weekend.
