The turning point in Indiana’s 91-81 loss to Duke was pretty clear. For a raucous Indiana crowd spewing venom at Duke’s #3 all game long, this particular turning point was perhaps harder to swallow than if anyone else had delivered the decisive blows. At the 4:11 mark, after De’Ron Davis free throws, Indiana trailed only 79-78. The Hoosiers were hanging right with the top-ranked Blue Devils and it felt like something special might be brewing in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Visions of the 2011 “Wat Shot” surely crept into the minds of many of the Hoosier faithful. For much of…

While Duke had a clear advantage in overall talent, length and athleticism, Indiana managed to hang right with the number 1 ranked Blue Devils for most of the game. There was no question that the Hoosiers’ effort was there. The bottom line here was that that Duke’s length and composure in a tough road environment was enough to pull out the win, 91-81. In our preview we gave you six things that the Hoosiers had to do pull of the upset. The results were mixed: The home crowd? This was never in doubt. De’Ron Davis staying out foul trouble? Nope. …
After the Howard game we highlighted how the national recruiting services appeared to have significantly underrated Indiana freshman guard Al Durham, Jr. Since then that impression has only been further cemented as Durham continues to play at a high level despite his 3 star rating as a recruit. Take a look at his statistics through 6 games: Points – 9.0 FG% – 49% 3PT% – 35% Rebounds – 2.5 Assists – 3.0 Turnovers – .33 [only 2 all season] It is perhaps the turnovers that have most wowed the Indiana fans who have been hungry for a cleaner and more…
With number 1 ranked Duke coming to Bloomington on Wednesday, Hoosier fans are hoping for a major upset. It isn’t unprecedented for Indiana to knock off the top ranked team at Assembly Hall. In fact, the Hoosiers have done it three times in the 46 year history of IU’s current home court. As you’d expect with wins of this magnitude, each of these games are likely etched in the memories of Hoosier fans everywhere. Let’s take a look back at those moments, with accompanying videos that are sure to elicit a goose bump or two: February 2, 2013 – (3)…
Every year during the pre-conference slate there is at least one home game on Indiana’s schedule that you just know will have a different feel to it. When the 2017-18 schedule was released that game was fairly easy to pinpoint, even before the preseason rankings anointed Duke as the #1 team in the country. Add in the fact that Duke is perhaps the nation’s most prestigious program with the winningest coach of all-time, and well, the Hall should be a rockin’. Oh, and then there is that Grayson Allen dude. We’re sure that he’ll be a popular guy with the…
Too soon? No matter how you are feeling about the state of the Indiana football program right now, one thing is for sure — there will be another season in 2018. The bad news? Unless the Big Ten realigns its divisions, the 2018 schedule will once again face the seemingly insurmountable wall that is Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State. Also, with the exception of Ball State there are no gimme games. Given IU’s recent history against the Cardinals we’re not sure that is a fair characterization of that game either. The good news? No Wisconsin. Also, many…

Don’t let that final score fool you. This was Indiana’s worst performance of the season. By far. And the repercussions could last a decade. Or more. The 95th ranked Purdue rushing offense steamrolled Indiana’s previously stout running defense. This is the same Indiana defense that held Heisman hopeful Saquon Barkley to 56 yards. Markell Jones went for more than 200 and Purdue collectively ran for 272. Purdue’s running game is not that much better than Indiana’s run defense. This was about game planning and heart. Purdue had a better plan and they wanted it more. Tom Allen and Jeff Brohm…
With 14 minutes remaining Indiana was in yet another tight game with yet another mid-major, leading only 51-47. Eastern Michigan is an above average mid-major that the Hoosiers would need to take seriously, but the fact remains — if this team was going to show progress it was going to have to put teams like this away. The game had been tight up to this point. Indiana had a brief 9 point lead early in the second half only to see Eastern Michigan cut it back down to one. Indiana’s defense was getting gashed with dribble penetration, including a segment…
In our preview for this game, we gave several reasons why the Hoosiers had better not look past Eastern Michigan. Irrespective of the final score of tonight’s game, the Eagles are a good team. We’d be surprised if they aren’t at or near the top of the MAC when it’s all said and done. But Indiana had its best game of the year. Honestly, they had their best game since January before the wheels fell off last season. The Hoosiers did it all tonight — low turnovers, perimeter shooting, intensity. They even saw the return of one of their senior…
