They say you can’t go home again. Perhaps a better way to say it is that you could go home again — but do you really want to? Former Indiana University basketball star Cody Zeller is back in his hometown of Washington, Ind. this week and it has apparently been eye opening for the NBA veteran. Zeller, who signed a 4-year, $56 million contract extension in 2016 has likely grown accustomed to a slightly different lifestyle than what he knew in Washington growing up. The 7-foot-0 big man just finished his sixth season in Charlotte and decided to visit family…

Indiana will have two class of 2019 four-star guards on campus over the course of just a few days. As previously reported, 2019 four-star shooting guard Lester Quinones is planning to take an official visit to IU April 24-26. Before he arrives, class of 2019 four-star guard Anthony Harris will be in Bloomington. Based on reports by recruiting services Rivals and 247Sports, Harris will be taking an official visit at Indiana this weekend. He will then take an official visit to North Carolina on Monday. Prior to committing to Virginia Tech, Harris had taken official visits to Duke, Wake Forest…
Substantial insight was gained today with regard to Indiana’s 2019-20 Big Ten basketball schedule. Once again the Hoosiers will play 20 league games and will meet six of the conference’s 14 teams one time. Here are the opponents according to the IU basketball program via Twitter: https://twitter.com/IndianaMBB/status/1118590284626051073 Overall it appears to be a fairly favorable schedule. The clear good news is that Indiana will only play likely league favorite Michigan State one time, in Bloomington. Iowa is another team that is expected to be good next year that IU will only see once at home. Northwestern is a clear bottom…
Cody Zeller came back to Bloomington on Tuesday to take a look at the new locker room at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall and the new player lounge that bears his name. A lot has changed since Zeller left Indiana for the NBA in 2013. IU’s home court got a makeover and a new name, the new locker room, and that lounge to name a few. One thing hasn’t changed much. Indiana has never had a more talented big man playing the five since Zeller left, and more often than not it hasn’t even had a five playing the five. Whatever…
It’s better late than never. After missing on class of 2016 recruit Joey Brunk, Indiana has landed the commitment of 2019 graduate transfer Joey Brunk. https://twitter.com/JoeyBrunk/status/1118257812839313409 Having just finished his redshirt sophomore season, Brunk will have two years of eligibility left. The 6-foot-11 center chose Butler over IU and others way back in 2015 before his senior year of high school. He was rated as a 4-star recruit in the class of 2016. Brunk is immediately eligible for the 2019-20 season and fills a need on Indiana’s roster in a conference full of big post players. An Indianapolis native, Brunk…
It’s not as if they are burning a hole in his pocket, but Indiana head basketball coach Archie Miller is entering the home stretch of the class of 2019 recruiting period with three open scholarships on his 2019-20 roster. And he has been quite active as he attempts to fill the gaps. With the 2018-19 season now several weeks into the rear view mirror, Miller and his staff have been pursuing multiple options as they attempt to round out next season’s team. The college basketball spring signing period runs from April 17 to May 15, meaning that over the next…
Indiana senior guard Devonte Green has decided to declare for the NBA Draft. The news was first reported by Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops and retweeted by Green: Green does not currently appear on any NBA Draft projections, and is likely utilizing the early entry process to obtain feedback that he can incorporate into his senior season at Indiana. The North Babylon, New York native played in 28 games during the 2018-19 season, starting nine times. Green was third on the team in scoring at 9.4 points per game and he led Indiana shooting the ball from three point range…
Indiana University Athletics Director Fred Glass has announced that Indiana Football will return player last names to the back of their jerseys. The program had removed names from the jerseys last year to follow the lead of all IU’s other varsity sports and IU’s Brand and Uniform Guidelines. That 2018 decision was met with disappointment by some fans and former players. https://twitter.com/RashardFant/status/1034568972564422659 The 2019 season kicks off on August 31 against Ball State at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. IU’s home opener is September 7 against Eastern Illinois. Glass’ statement (via iuhoosiers.com) is below: “After listening to feedback from a…
He isn’t going to be sneaking up on anyone in 2019. In fact, Stevie Scott doesn’t want to catch you off guard this year. Rather, he wants you to know he’s coming. Go ahead and stop him if you can. The second year Hoosier running back said this on Friday night in response to a question on BTN regarding his impressions of new offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer’s system — “I’m loving it so far,” Scott said. I can’t wait for the season to start. I’m very excited, and I just want everybody to watch out because we are definitely coming.”…
Familiar names continue to surface in the class of 2019 for Indiana. The Hoosiers were once thought to be a legitimate contender for class of 2019 4-star guard Anthony Harris. IU never got the traction with Harris that they hoped for and he ultimately committed to play for Buzz Williams at Virginia Tech. With Williams’ recent move to Texas A&M, Harris asked for and received his release from the Hokies. Now Archie Miller is giving it another go. First, Corey Evans of Rivals said this yesterday about Indiana’s involvement with Harris — “….they have also expressed heavy interest in Anthony…
