Indianapolis based Cathedral High School forward Xavier Booker has scheduled a June 23 unofficial visit to IU his AAU coach Mike Saunders notified The Daily Hoosier on Thursday evening. Former USC running back Stephen Carr announced on Sunday that he was transferring to Indiana. The former 5-star recruit arrives in Bloomington immediately available for the 2021 season with one season of eligibility remaining. The IU football program formally introduced Carr on Thursday, signaling that his transfer is now official.  The Gardena, Calif. product is now listed on the roster at 6-foot and 215 pounds. Indiana has maintained contact with one of the top prospects in the Midwest through the coaching change. Class of 2023 forward Kaleb Glenn averaged 20.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game while shooting 71% from the field as a sophomore at Louisville Male High School. He was named First-Team All-State and a MaxPreps All-American, and his rebounding average led the state of Kentucky for class of 2023 players. The first new nonconference game of the Mike Woodson era has emerged. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported on Twitter that IU basketball will face Merrimack in Bloomington as part of its 2021-22 nonconference schedule. Based in North Andover, Mass., Merrimack plays in the Northeast Conference and finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 9-9 record. June is setting up to be a busy month in Bloomington as in-person recruiting reopens. Already we’ve told you about planned June official visits at IU by class of 2022 top-100 forwards Kyle Filipowski and Justin Taylor.  Joining them will be Fayetteville, Georgia based top-100 forward Kaleb Banks. Nine former IU basketball players saw regular season action during the 2020-21 NBA season that ended on Sunday. Below is our final look at their performance during the COVID-19 shortened 72 game season. The 2021 NBA Playoffs begin this week, and while some former Hoosiers won’t play due to injuries, six of the nine are with organizations that have advanced to the postseason. As we reported last week, Indiana landed a commitment from Auburn transfer defensive end Jaren Handy. As a recruit in the class of 2019, Handy was a 4-star and ranked the No. 100 overall player in the class and the No. 7 strong-side defensive end according to the 247Sports Composite. He chose Auburn over a long list of offers that included LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Coming to IU from South Florida, Durr is immediately eligible with two years remaining and adds much needed experience in the post to the roster.  Durr announced the news on his Twitter page. “Let’s get it Hoosier nation,” he wrote in his post.
