Developing an in-state pipeline is important to new IU basketball coach Darian DeVries, and he appears to have landed a well connected assistant coach with deep ties in the Hoosier State. According to a report by the Cincinnati 247Sports site, Indiana is hiring Cincinnati assistant coach Drew Adams to join DeVries’ staff.  That outlet is reporting Adams will have both a bench and recruiting role at IU. Indiana fans are keeping an eye on a familiar name in the transfer portal. Kansas freshman center Flory Bidunga has entered the portal with a “do not contact” tag. Bidunga was a long-time recruiting target of Indiana when he moved to Kokomo, Ind. and played there for his last two years of high school.  Bidunga did not start playing basketball until he was 14 but quickly became an elite prospect due to his length, athleticism and motor. The complete overhaul underway in Bloomington includes Tim Garl, the athletic trainer for IU basketball for nearly a half century during the tenures of six head coaches. Garl’s run as the athletic trainer for the IU men’s basketball program has come to an end, an IU spokesperson confirmed to TDH on Monday morning. Iowa transfer guard Josh Dix was in the first edition of our Indiana and Big Ten roster tracker as a portal prospect for new head coach Darian DeVries.  And he’s been there since. The reason why — DeVries aggressively pursued Dix out of high school when DeVries was at Drake and Dix was playing high school basketball in Iowa.  And Dix played summer basketball on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit with anticipated IU forward Tucker DeVries.  During his recruitment Dix said Drake recruited him the longest.  So there’s a longstanding relationship. Nick Norton was an assistant coach this past season at West Virginia under new IU had coach Darian Devries. Last night at the Indiana high school basketball state finals, Norton was seen wearing IU gear while sitting with DeVries, providing the clearest signal yet he’ll join the IU staff as an assistant. Indiana men’s swimming and diving finished third at the 2025 NCAA championships. Their Saturday night ended with a third place national finish, the program’s best since 2019. The Hoosiers scored a program record 431 points, placing close behind champion Texas (466) and Cal (441). It seems appropriate new IU basketball coach Darian DeVries’ first stop on the high school recruiting trail was the Indiana high school state finals. DeVries came for the evening session featuring the Class 3A and 4A contests and is seated courtside. There are several interesting IU connections and recruiting prospects playing in the finals. The 2A game included Josh Henderson, the son of IU great Alan Henderson.  Josh Henderson plays for University H.S. in Carmel, Ind. Will the fourth time be the charm when it comes to Indiana and Ryan Conwell? The 6-foot-4 Indianapolis native is transferring for the third time, seeking his fourth school in four seasons of college basketball. New Indiana coach Darian DeVries is still assembling his coaching staff, but the patchwork new crew is already passing out offers in the high school ranks. Class of 2027 guard Chase Branham announced an offer from Indiana on Friday. The 6-foot-4 Branham attends Logan-Rogersville High School in Rogersville, Mo. where according to the Springfield News-Leader, he was averaging 19.2 points and 2.7 rebounds this season while shooting 62% from the field going into last weekend’s state semifinals.  He made All-State in Missouri. Bryson Tucker is the latest member of the 2024-25 IU basketball team to enter the transfer portal according to multiple Friday afternoon reports. Tucker arrived in Bloomington as the lone member of Indiana’s 2024 high school class after he committed to Mike Woodson last spring. The McDonald’s All-American played 23 games in a reserve role.  In 16.5 minutes per contest he averaged 5.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists. Tucker shot 37.8% (48-of-127) from the floor overall, including 15% from three.  He made 72.2% (26-of-36) from the free throw line. Tucker did not appear in any games after IU’s Feb.…
