Indiana basketball is not ranked to open the 2025-26 college basketball season.

The Hoosiers have not been ranked since the 2022-23 season.

One voter did include IU in their preseason rankings.

Indiana will see plenty of ranked teams this season, however.

In total 12 teams from the Big Ten are ranked or also receiving votes.

Purdue is No. 1 in the preseason for the first time.  Meanwhile, Michigan is No. 7, UCLA is No. 12, Illinois is No. 17, Michigan State is No. 22 and Wisconsin is No. 24.  Also receiving votes from the league are Oregon, Ohio State, USC, Washington, and Iowa.

Indiana will play two nonconference foes ranked in the preseason:  Kentucky is No. 9, and Louisville is No. 11.  Kansas State is also receiving votes.  Marquette is not ranked or receiving votes.

IU’s preseason exhibition opponent Baylor also received one vote.

Here’s the full AP preseason top-25:
